Inspiration

We saw too many Thalassemia families scrambling for blood at the last moment, and too many generous donors going unnoticed. We wanted to bridge that gap with a solution that feels like a caring community, not just an app.

What it does

LifeLines+ quietly learns each donor’s pattern and predicts who can give next. When a patient needs blood, it gently alerts the top matches. Every transfusion is recorded in a secure digital log so no one is ever forgotten. Simple AR stories teach families how to live well with Thalassemia, and a friendly chat or call keeps everyone connected.

How we built it

Mobile & Chat: A core app for smartphones, plus a WhatsApp bot for feature-phone users.

Predictive Model: A small machine-learning service trained on past donation data to forecast availability.

Secure Ledger: A private ledger that stamps each transfusion with a tamper-proof record.

AR Hub: Lightweight AR mini-experiences built with open libraries to run on everyday devices.

Challenges we ran into

Data Gaps: Getting clean donation history to train our model. Device Limits: Making AR features run smoothly on low-end phones. Trust Building: Convincing local clinics to record transfusions digitally.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A working prototype that matches donors in under five minutes. A pilot with a local clinic using our digital receipts for real patients. AR stories translated into three regional languages.

What we learned

Simple interfaces win: families loved the one-tap AR guides.

Multichannel access matters: WhatsApp outreach tripled our early sign-ups.

Trust grows with transparency: digital logs made both patients and donors feel honored.

What's next for LifeLines+

Expand to new regions and add peer-support chat rooms. Introduce financial-aid application tracking. Partner with more hospitals to make every transfusion count.
