Inspiration

Emergencies need faster response than calling or texting. We wanted Lifeline to instantly connect someone in danger with nearby people who can help.

What it does

Lifeline shares live location, shows nearby users, sends SOS alerts, plays alarms, vibrates phones, and opens user profiles with key medical details.

How we built it

We built it with React Native Expo, Firebase Realtime Database, react-native-maps, expo-location, and expo-av for live tracking and alerts.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was making map markers stable across Android devices while updating live locations without flickering or disappearing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a working real-time safety network with live map tracking, presence, SOS alerts, profile cards, alarms, vibration, and distance calculation.

What we learned

We learned how to handle real-time data, location updates, Firebase presence, map performance, and emergency-focused mobile UI design.

What's next for Lifeline - SOS

Next, we want to add hospital search, Google Maps navigation, in-app calling, real-time chat, helper ratings, and stronger SOS animations.
