We were inspired to create an app to improve campus safety by giving every student the power of the emergency blue light in their back pocket! The LifeLine app allows students immediate contact with campus police, preset LifeLines, counseling and their own personal Ally. 80% of all sexual assaults are committed by an acquaintance of the victim. Because of this, we decided to make the app discrete and customizable. The app logo is very generic and could easily be mistaken for a camera app or a form of social media. On the home page of LifeLine, all images and icons are able to be drawn by the user. This allows the possible victim to contact help from preset friends or family, or if needs be, the police without drawing attention to themselves.

If the user uses the emergency button, it will directly call the police giving them the ability of having a phone or video conversation with the option of recording it. Using the Microsoft One Drive, which is free for everyone up to 15gb of storage, LifeLine would send the recorded phone call or video to the one drive to be used in the future as possible evidence of the situation.

The app also has long term benefits such as allowing students easy access to campus resources such as the Center for Women and Gender or their own personal Ally

We hope that multiple college campuses would be able to create their own student run group of Allies that are able to talk to students who need help or advice 24/7. Each student who would register for the LifeLine app would be assigned their own personal Ally to meet or talk to.

With LineLife we could significantly decrease the stats of campus crime, especially sexual abuse.
