Inspiration

Humanitarian aid is often slowed by bureaucracy, fragmented systems, and a lack of transparency. We wanted to explore how modern AI and blockchain infrastructure could make giving money to people in need as fast, simple, and trustworthy as sending a transaction. LIFELINE was inspired by the idea that generosity should move at the speed of modern technology.

What is it?

\textbf{LIFELINE} is a blockchain-powered humanitarian aid system that simulates detecting crisis events, verifying them with AI, and routing funds directly to people in need. It visualizes the entire aid lifecycle---monitoring, verification, funding, and resolution---so users can see how help flows in real time.

How we built it

LIFELINE was built as an end-to-end simulation combining AI, data infrastructure, and blockchain technology. Multimodal AI is used to simulate event verification and confidence scoring, a data ledger tracks event states and decisions, and a blockchain layer represents fast, low-cost, transparent fund distribution. All components are surfaced through a live dashboard that visualizes system state, reasoning logs, and the flow of funds.

Challenges

One of the main challenges was clearly communicating a complex AI and blockchain pipeline within a short hackathon demo. We also needed to balance cinematic visuals with clarity and trust, ensuring the system felt transparent and responsible rather than opaque or overly abstract.

Accomplishments

We are proud to have built a complete humanitarian aid flow within a hackathon timeframe, clearly visualizing AI reasoning and on-chain fund movement. The final system feels both human-centered and infrastructure-grade, with a narrative that is easy for judges to follow from start to finish.

What we learned

We learned that speed alone is not enough when designing autonomous systems. Transparency is critical for trust, and showing how decisions are made is just as important as executing them quickly. Strong visualization proved essential for making complex systems understandable and credible.

Next steps

Next, we plan to integrate real-world data sources, improve fairness and governance mechanisms, and enable real on-chain deployments. Long term, LIFELINE could evolve into an always-on humanitarian funding layer, ready to respond wherever and whenever help is needed.
