Inspiration

Every year, thousands of lives are put at risk because people don't know what to do during the first few critical minutes of an emergency. Whether it's a road accident, a burn injury, a cardiac event, or a sudden health crisis, immediate guidance can make a significant difference before professional medical help arrives.

We wanted to build an intelligent assistant that could act as a first responder, helping people make informed decisions during emergencies using the power of Google Gemini.

What it does

LifeLine AI is an emergency response platform that helps users react quickly and effectively during medical emergencies. Users can: Describe symptoms through text or voice. Upload images of injuries for AI-powered assessment. Receive step-by-step first-aid instructions. Get emergency severity classification.

How we built it

The frontend was built using React and Tailwind CSS to provide a responsive user experience. The backend was developed using Node.js and Express and deployed on Google Cloud Run for scalable and reliable access.

Google Gemini API powers the intelligence layer by:

Understanding natural language descriptions of symptoms. Analyzing images of injuries and accidents. Generating personalized first-aid instructions.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that AI-generated recommendations remained helpful without presenting themselves as professional medical diagnoses.

We also faced challenges in:

Processing image-based injury assessments accurately. Handling different languages and regional expressions. Designing a user interface that remains simple during stressful situations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built an end-to-end emergency response platform powered by Gemini. Successfully integrated multimodal AI capabilities for text, voice, and image understanding. Deployed a scalable cloud-native architecture on Google Cloud.

What we learned

Google Gemini's multimodal capabilities. Prompt engineering for emergency scenarios. Google Cloud deployment and scaling.

What's next for LifeLine AI

Future improvements include:

Offline emergency assistance mode. Integration with ambulance and emergency dispatch systems. Wearable device connectivity for automatic alerts. Location-based disaster and emergency notifications.
