Hi, I’m Sharadha Karthikeyan and this is the story of how I created LifeLens, a calming and intelligent journaling app built during the Bolt AI Hackathon.
LifeLens began with a simple question: "What if journaling felt more like a gentle conversation with yourself, guided by AI?"
Like many of us, I’ve often felt overwhelmed by chaotic thoughts, emotions, and the struggle to find balance in day-to-day life especially as a student living far from home, managing academics, emotions, and everything in between. Journaling helped, but I often wished for something more intuitive… something that didn’t just record feelings, but actually helped me understand them.
So I built LifeLens , a space where reflection meets technology.
Using Claude, Supabase, and the Bolt platform, I designed an app that:
Welcomes users with a soothing, pastel-themed UI,
Offers intelligent emotional insights after every journal entry,
Tracks emotional patterns over time with visual cues like the Reflect-O-Meter,
And even offers uplifting quotes and affirmations based on your mood history.
One of my favorite parts is the ability for users to create their own journaling prompts because self-reflection should feel personal, not pre-programmed.
Behind the scenes, I learned to balance design and function, ensuring the app stayed responsive, lightweight, and emotionally aware. Every interaction was built with intention, to feel gentle, private, and meaningful.
LifeLens wasn’t just a hackathon project, it became a personal journey. I hope it helps others feel a little more seen, a little more understood, and a lot more connected with themselves. 1.Accomplishments that we're proud of
