Inspiration
Natural disasters can strike without warning, leaving people confused and without reliable guidance. We wanted to build an AI-powered assistant that provides instant emergency support, safety information, and preparedness guidance to help save lives and improve disaster response.
What it does
LifeLine AI is an intelligent disaster response platform that helps users prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. It offers an AI chat and voice assistant, first-aid guidance, disaster safety tips, emergency preparedness checklists, weather alerts, nearby shelter information, and SOS support through a simple, user-friendly interface.
How we built it
We developed LifeLine AI using React, Vite, Tailwind CSS, TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.js. We integrated the Google Gemini API for AI-powered conversations and the Web Speech API for voice interaction. The application was designed with a responsive UI to ensure accessibility across desktop and mobile devices.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenges were designing accurate AI responses for emergency situations, integrating voice features, organizing disaster information into a simple interface, and creating a responsive experience that works smoothly across different devices while maintaining good performance.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built a working AI-powered disaster assistant with both chat and voice capabilities. We created a clean, accessible interface and combined emergency guidance, first aid, preparedness planning, and AI assistance into one platform focused on solving a real-world problem.
What we learned
This project improved our skills in full-stack web development, AI integration, prompt engineering, API integration, responsive UI design, accessibility, teamwork, and building technology that delivers meaningful social impact.
What's next for LifeLine AI
We plan to add offline emergency support, real-time disaster alerts, interactive maps, AI image analysis for damage assessment, multilingual support, wearable device integration, community rescue coordination, and personalized evacuation recommendations to make LifeLine AI even more useful during emergencies.
