💡 Inspiration: The $\$1,800$/Year "Silent Corporate Tax"

Every modern household is under continuous, silent financial siege. Telecom carriers quietly expire introductory promo rates and slip in $\$15.00$ "network optimization fees." Gyms and software subscriptions establish predatory "click-to-subscribe, certified-mail-to-cancel" dark patterns. Hospitals upcode routine preventive screenings into out-of-network balance bills. Defective household appliances trigger silent safety recalls that never reach the owner.

The average family forfeits over $\$1,800$ every single year—not because they are careless, but because they lack the time, legal knowledge, and emotional energy to comb through monthly fine print.

When conversational AI arrived, consumers were promised relief. Yet existing AI agents made the problem worse: they demand that users open an app, upload files manually, prompt an LLM, and babysit another dashboard. If an AI agent requires you to remember to open it and manage it, it hasn’t saved your life—it has simply created another digital chore.

We were inspired to answer the core mandate of the AWS Agents for Humans Hackathon:

"Build an AI agent with the Strands Agents SDK that handles routine and repetitive tasks in the background. Instead of another app people open and manage, the agent runs autonomously and only surfaces when there's a real decision to make."

We asked: What if your household had an ambient, autonomous legal and financial bodyguard? One that silently audits bills in the background, allows $95\%$ of clean routine transactions to pass without interrupting dinner, and only surfaces when real capital or safety is on the line—with a pre-drafted legal dispute ready for one-click authorization.

That is LifeGuard AI.

⚙️ How We Built It

LifeGuard AI rejects monolithic prompt chains in favor of a resilient, multi-agent architecture built with the Strands Agents SDK and engineered to deploy on the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime.

1. Ambient Background Ingestion Daemon

Instead of forcing manual file uploads, LifeGuard runs an ambient background daemon watching household drop directories (ambient_inbox/) and webhook-forwarding addresses ([email protected]). It parses invoices, line-item charges, and dates in under $15\text{ ms}$ without push notification noise.

2. Multi-Agent Reasoning Pipeline (Strands Agents SDK)
