Inspiration
We took inspiration from the deficient importance that organizations and governments give to healthcare. Default Health apps in smartphones are able to take basic information from the user (name, age, gender), but none can handle important documents (birth certificate, vaccination card, medical histories); that's why we wanted to build an app that's able to do that and a whole lote more to care about it's users' health.
What it does
LifeFriend manages important documents for the medical service to look for in case of an emergency, so they can have easy access to it; the app can also alert the user for nearby emergencies so they can either help (if required) or avoid the location, that also means by definition, the user is able to report emergencies so other users get notified in real time; LifeFriend can also look for nearby hospitals in case the user needs it.
How we built it
We built it using Tailwind CSS JavaScript Next.JS Prisma and PostgreSQL Vercel Cloudfare Auth0 Google API
Challenges we ran into
We had people who were new to programming in our group so we had to teach them where to begin, also most of us had never used Next.JS so we had to learn how to incorporate that. We ran into many issues making our API with express such as errors ranging from syntax to timeout errors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
How the website turned out, the skills we learned, and the new people we met. The website turned out to look really good and exceed our expectations along with the backend working really well.
What we learned
We learned how to incorporate express to make our own API We learned how to use Auth0 We learned how to use Next.js We learned how to incorporate Prisma and PostgreSQL in our applications
What's next for LifeFriend
Make it a mobile application and spread awareness to hopefully help people
