Inspiration

I'm an actor, fashion model and fashion technologist, and my North Star is to be in a feature film. But I have a confession: I am not a finisher. I start many projects, get pulled away by daily demands, and come back to open tabs with no idea where I left off. On uncertain days I scroll instead of doing the one thing that matters. I built LifeDesk for myself, and for every woman who has big dreams and too many unfinished projects.

What it does

  • North Star: your big goal, with a vision board image, so you remember why you're doing the work.
  • Eat the Frog: one big red button starts a focus timer on your most important task.
  • Left-off notes: when you stop, you write where you left off, so next time LifeDesk welcomes you back and you resume instead of starting over.
  • Brain dump: loose thoughts become to-dos and projects.
  • "I don't know where to start": a shuffle button picks a task for you.
  • Accomplishments: celebrate what you actually finished.

How I built it

I followed the Devpost Learn Skill Pack step by step: scope, then PRD, then spec (scope.md, prd.md and spec.md are in the repo). I wrote the PRD in plain English first from my own voice notes, then turned it into a technical spec. The app is a phone-first React web app that saves data in the browser, with no login, and it runs on Replit. I don't code full time, so I built it by directing several AI coding assistants, including Grok, Claude Code, Codex and Replit Agent, and coordinated them through one shared Google Doc where each bot posts its status and hands work to the next.

Challenges

  • Keeping my real life private: I have a private LifeDesk with my real goals and data, so I had to keep the public hackathon version strictly on fake sample data.
  • Juggling AI tools: when one assistant ran out of credits, another had to pick up the work without losing track.
  • Working from China while traveling: I needed a VPN for some tools, and my PC was offline for days, so most of the work happened from my phone.
  • Finishing: the app is about finishing, and finishing it was the hardest part.

What I learned

  • Writing a clear plan before building saves a lot of time, especially with AI.
  • AI assistants work best when they share one source of truth and hand off clearly.
  • Small, specific next steps beat big goals. That's the whole idea behind LifeDesk, and it's how this project got finished.

What's next

Use LifeDesk daily myself, then turn it into a tool and a course to teach other women how to build with AI.
