Inspiration

Inconsequential choices are seemingly everywhere in our lives. But what if these supposedly irrelevant decisions were in actuality unsuspecting catalysts for change? LifeCost AI was designed to help users make informed decisions about their daily lives and the choices that accompany them. As such, we created a tool that helps users analyze the effects that their decisions have on their financial situation, physical health, and it's environmental impact.

What it does

LifeCost AI provides real time feedback and guidance for users about their choices, evaluating both the pros and cons of every decision. If it evaluates the decision to be positive, it motivates the user to try and complete it while also attempting to steer users away from self-destructive choices.

How we built it

We used React and Tailwind CSS for the frontend and its styling, creating a responsive and dynamic UI. Our backend utilizes python, which leverages LLM models to analyze the decisions processes and creates feedback to guide the user to make healthy decisions. This communication is made possible through Axios, which provides an API that allows the frontend and backend to transfer information between each other.

Challenges we ran into

Our greatest hurdle was time, as we were unable to fully implement the full extent of our desired functionality in the time allotted. Due to the constraints of this product, we were forced to improvise around our desired implementations and come up with alternative solutions to problems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a project that has real world applications and can be beneficial in the lives of others felt great. We're proud to present a project that can help people make responsible decisions and correct negative habits that may be otherwise be unknown to them.

What we learned

This was an immensely instructional product, as our team learned how to create APIs to communicate between frontends and backends of our server. Additionally, we learned about the importance of prompt engineering and LLM selection.

What's next for LifeCost AI

In the future, we want to expand LIfeCost Ai by creating a task backlog. This will allow users to create multiple goals at once, allowing them time to reach their goals as well as take on multiple challenges at once. Additionally, we want to create a photo college setting where users can look back with pride upon the milestones they've passed and the challenges they've overcome.
