Inspiration

"Things end but memories last forever"

Our memories form an integral part of our lives, sometimes reliving them is the best thing one can ever experiemce. How many times have we come across people starting their conversation with "In those days....." and just wishing they can relive their memories. No one can afford to lose such a priceless commodity like memory. But its unfortunate that memory impaired patients with diseases like Alzheimer's have a hard time creating more memories and remembering their golden ones. To help these patients with memory by helping them relive and re-experience their memories has been the root foundation of our inspiration.

This is where we come in. At LifeChain, we try to help memory impaired patients like the ones suffering from diseases like Alzheimer's and other kinds of dementia, to recollect and relive their memories, thus making world a better place to live in and make new memories.

What it does?

LifeChain is a revolutionary platform, that collects photos from the patients, and their caretakers, to upload their memories in the form of photos, audio, text and related tags. Our algorithm uses generative AI to convert these discrete elements into a proper collaborated memory and allow the patient to relive their experiences at any place, any time! It also has features that can enable the user to explore and experience the experiences of people who consent to share their memories in the same format. Another functionality that allows users to sharpen their memory is the feature of flashcards and quizzes that helps them recollect and retain memory for a longer period of tim. All the data collected is stored in blockchain that makes it technically impossible for unauthorized people to access them.

How we built it

Once our idea was ready and clear, we started by making a Low-fi design on pen and paper to get a gist of what we're trying to make. From these Low-fi prototypes, we built Hi-fi prototypes on Figma. They made our design look complete. Then we started coding a platform to showcase our app, which includes our highlight features and other important information on our app. We created a React app for the website and used TailwindCSS for styling. The website was later deployed using Vercel. As we went further with our project, our platform became better because of the continous work put in by our team.

Challenges we ran into

In the beginning, we were a little unclear about how all of this would roll out, and as we progressed with the hackathon, that also did seem to come true after we spent around hours just ideating and making the pitch deck because after inputs from various imminetn people in this field, we just didn't want to be another team in Hackathon that make an app over an idea with no market potential. We carefully studied our users and followed the whole systematic user research and ideation journey, which took a lot of time. So, the time constraint is one major challenge we ran into. Due to that, we also weren't able to include some design prototypes in the actual app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are confident that the idea we came up with has real-life scalability and can someday be made into an actual startup. With the right mentorship from faculty as well as industry mentors whom we reached out to, we were able to rectify the nitty-gritty of our service and overall design decisions of the platform as well as the pitch deck.

What we learned

We learned that with the right team and some courage and faith in yourself, you can accomplish anything. We also learned the importance of breaking the first barrier by participating.

What's next for LifeChain

We have also mentioned some future prospects in our pitch deck, and we want to work on this idea further and convert it into a real-life marketable venture. It's not just about us. We all believe this is a genuine problem we tapped into, thanks to Ashoka and this Hackathon, and we want to solve it.
