Inspiration
We’ve all had “what if” moments - wondering how life might look if we made different choices. What if you quit your job to start a company? Moved cities? Chose balance over burnout? LifeBeta was born from that curiosity
What it does
LifeBeta lets you simulate real-life decisions through interactive, AI-powered “life runs.” In the Founder’s Life Edition, players live through startup dilemmas — cofounder splits, funding pressure, burnout, pivots — and see how their strategies compare with the community. Each choice shapes your startup’s journey and your personal well-being score.
Community play element:
- Player can create their own characters and allow others to play his/her life
- Player can play other people's character and see how performance compare
- Life is full of uncertainty, when you met unexplored path of life, community can vote what happens next together - once voting period end, highest voted event is materialized for that character forever.
Happy exploring!
How we built it
Using Claude + Codex, we built over 100,000 lines of production-grade code, designing both the backend and frontend architecture with service queues, rate limiters, balancers, event buses, and deep AI/LLM integration. The game system is modular — easily extensible into new editions like Mario’s Life in Mushroom Land (obviously I cant do that due to IP ownership, just an example) or Artist’s Life in Paris (this one I can do).
Challenges we ran into
Time was tight, and we had no dedicated art support — which made creative assets and polish extra challenging. Well a lot of sleepless nights + beer :)
I'm sure there are a lot of bugs we had no time to regress - beers fault.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We did it — the game is some what playable and built with scalable architecture ready for multiple worlds and themes.
What we learned
A strong architecture paired with AI tooling can 10× production speed — turning complex ideas into working prototypes fast.
What's next for LifeBeta
Next, we’ll polish the art, debug, add more themes, and prepare for public release. LifeBeta’s framework allows AI-generated worlds and stories — so we’ll focus on building theme creation tools that let anyone craft and share their own “what if” universes.
