We wanted a way for people to have fun while also thinking about real life issues.
What it does
Give the player freedom and a method to express their frustrations while maintaining a holistic view of the problems people generally face in quarantine.
How we built it
We built the project in Unreal Engine, and divided the tasks with two members building the health bars, two developing the two tasks (taking vitamins, and choosing food), and another building the environment.
Challenges we ran into
Lack of memory space on two members’ computers Being in different locations and different time zones Not being able to use GitHub because of the size of the files No prior experience with Unreal for most members
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Using tools within Zoom to allow all participants to be involved in product creation Specifically annotation, remote control features The ability to collaboratively accomplish a product we all were excited to make Breaking down big task to accomplish the overall objective in a timely fashion
What we learned
Many of us learned how to use UnReal Engine for the first time. How to apply general logic and design principles to an unfamiliar development environment.
What's next for Life In Lockdown
- Adding animation to the enemy characters
- Adding more task for the player to do
- Adding multiplayer
- Integration between tasks
