What it does
LifeCoin is a digital currency designed to allow recovering patients to send LifeCoins to people who assisted in their survival during a life-threatening emergency. By leveraging blockchain technology, the app ensures secure, transparent transactions while providing an innovative way for patients to show appreciation. LifeCoins can also have real-world value, with potential market value and compensation tied to their use, allowing recipients to benefit both emotionally and materially.
How we built it We built LifeCoin using blockchain technology to ensure secure, decentralized transactions. The backend is developed with Python and Node.js to handle the core logic, while the frontend is created with React for a smooth, user-friendly interface. We implemented smart contracts to automate transactions, making sure they are transparent and verifiable. Security measures like JWT and OAuth 2.0 were incorporated to prevent fraud and unauthorized access, while encryption ensures that sensitive healthcare data is kept secure.
Challenges we ran into
The most significant challenge was ensuring the security of the app, as it deals with sensitive healthcare data and digital currency. Implementing fraud prevention mechanisms, such as multi-step verification and collaborating with hospitals to verify life-saving events, was complex but necessary. Additionally, creating a sustainable market value for LifeCoins posed challenges in terms of partnerships with philanthropists, governments, and donors.
