Inspiration

What it does

Inspiration:

The project is inspired by the short story Library of Babel. As Jorge Luis Borges described it, the library of babel contains every coherent book ever written, and such library contains all possible and useful information, including predictions of the future, biographies of any person, etc.

What it does:

The idea of the Library of Babel revolves around creating a library digitally and connecting your library with other people’s libraries to form an infinite number of libraries (network). Online libraries are often oriented around search engines and thus inhibits exploration. Our project, however, allows users to create their own libraries with 3D models. In other words, users attach any kinds of media (books, articles, links, sound, videos, etc.) to 3D models, and the media is not visible to others. In this way, people are encouraged to click on the models they might find interesting (without knowing what is in there).

The Library of Babel attempts to bridge the two, creating digital libraries (with 3D models) and encouraging the user to explore different topics, together.
