Inspiration

I originally had the idea to build this project after checking out Don Quixote from Bartle Library. Since the novel is over 1000 pages long, I needed to reassure myself that I would be able to finish the book in time before the looming due date! I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to produce this project and have it be judged at HackBU’s hackathon. This project is definitely something I would use in my daily life going forward. :)

What it does

This projects user inputs of the amount of pages in the book, the current date, the due date, and other relevant information about the library book. It then asks the user the pace the wish to read the book at. Then, using the given inputs, the program calculates the amount of pages the user needs to read each day to meet their reading goals!

How we built it

I used python to build this program from my local machine.

Challenges we ran into

My main challenge was converting the user inputs into variables that I could easily manipulate. I also found accounting for leap years and user errors to be difficult.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm extremely proud that this program functions the way I intended it to. I have had this idea for a while and this was the perfect opportunity to bring it to life!

What we learned

I learned to never give up when faced with challenges. I encountered a few difficulties during this project but overcame them.

What's next for Library Book Reading Schedule Calculator

Converting it into a format that is useful for students and their reading assignments!
