We were frustrated by the fragmented and time-consuming nature of Liberian news consumption. We envisioned a centralized platform that aggregates news from various sources, providing a comprehensive and efficient experience.

What it does

LibNews Central is a news aggregation platform that brings together the latest news from top Liberian news outlets like FrontPage Africa, Liberian Observer, and New Dawn. It uses AI to generate summaries and related content, making it easy for users to stay informed.

How we built it

We built LibNews Central using advanced web scraping technology to collect news articles from various sources. We then implemented AI algorithms, specifically Gemini, to process and summarize the content or article details of the scrape news. The platform is designed to be user-friendly and accessible to many users.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the aggregated news. We had to carefully curate the sources and implement quality control measures to maintain the integrity of the information. Additionally, keeping up with the dynamic nature of news and ensuring timely updates was a constant challenge.
