Inspiration

Doctors spend 50% of their time looking at screen and not the patient. Medicine is becoming dehumanized. Blind, visually impaired, and the elderly are vulnerable to healthcare. Medical nonadherence occurs in ~50% of treatments (leading to 10% of hospitalizations)

What it does

Rehumanize medicine by tailoring care to patient’s values and presenting doctors with a simple snapshot of the entire patient Patients call a line to access their medical records and find doctors that meet their specialized needs such as making home visits. Use Speech-to-text software to record patient’s symptoms and connect them to a doctor.

How we built it

We built our website by using HTML/CSS and Javascript. For our mobile app, we used Figma, which is a platform that provides interface design tool.

Challenges we ran into

We were able to handle the front-end side of the website and application; however, we could not apply the back-end side of the website and application, which was our biggest challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Developed an app and website as well as the extent of the patient dissatisfaction in the healthcare system.

What we learned

Learned that patient dissatisfaction is a very serious issue and the health care system and also that providing accessible health care to the visually impaired people is urgent.

What's next for Li-Fi

1. Map Mode : Since visually impaired and the elderly patients may have difficulties visiting the doctors, we provide Map Mode for doctors to easily visit their patients when necessary.
2. Friends Mode and References : With patients' consents, they can be connected to other patients who also use Li-Fi, sharing and recommending each other doctors.
3. Health data from wearable devices : With wearable devices such as Apple Watch, Li-Fi collects data from the devices and immediately apply to patients' condition status.
4. Rating and Review System : Patients can rate and review doctors and medical staff on Li-Fi.
5. Connection to Insurance
6. Easy user access of health info (e.g. vaccines)
7. Connection to Prescription Providers
8. Developing app to follow HIPPA Guidelines
