Inspiration

LFYHUB was inspired by a simple but critical problem: finding the right blood donor quickly during an emergency. People often depend on friends, family, social-media groups, or outdated donor lists, which can cause valuable delays. We wanted to create a system where help is available through a real-time network rather than a static list.

Our Solution

LFYHUB — Lifeline For You — is a real-time blood donation platform where every user can be both a donor and a receiver. Users can search for compatible blood groups, share their availability, and find nearby donors using location-based matching. During emergencies, the platform helps identify available donors within a relevant area.

How We Built It

We developed the application using React for the frontend and a Python/Node.js-based backend, with REST APIs connecting the user interface to the application logic and database. Browser geolocation is used for location-based donor discovery, while the system manages user profiles, blood groups, availability, and donor searches.

What We Learned

Building LFYHUB helped us understand full-stack development, API integration, database management, geolocation, authentication, UI/UX design, problem solving, and team collaboration. We also learned how to transform a real-world problem into a practical and scalable technology solution.

Challenges We Faced

One of our biggest challenges was designing a system that could quickly identify suitable donors while considering blood-group compatibility, availability, and location. We also faced challenges in integrating frontend and backend components, handling location permissions, maintaining reliable data flow, and designing an interface simple enough to use during stressful emergency situations.

Our Goal

LFYHUB aims to transform blood donation from a passive database into an active, responsive community network where people can help each other when it matters most.
