Inspiration
A story about a Malaysian student who committed suicide due to a complicated affair with loan sharks.
What it does
It uses generative AI to simplify a range of legal documents, from diplomatic policies to legal contracts and provides a simplified explanation with risks, flags, outcomes, and specialized descriptions for certain documents (ex. termination clauses for contracts).
How we built it
The ideation process led to a basic UI with a simple layout, after which we developed the backend regarding the AI analysis process. From there we simplified the UI and then added PDF-Camera-Text tech and mobile/responsive compatibility.
Challenges we ran into
At one point, our app's structure/HTML padding was mixed, making the text that was supposed to be read illegible. As such, we had to reformat our entire thing to fit on both computers and phones. Through our collaboration and dedication, we were able to overcome this obstacle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully itemizes a database of local laws and analyzes documents from pasted text to PDF files to scanned images and provides a holistic simplification.
What we learned
AI use of refinement for HTML, prompt/context engineering, mobile/responsive compatibility
