Inspiration

We wanted to bring word enthusiasts together in a fun, collaborative, and competitive way while leveraging Reddit’s platform to create a space where puzzles build community engagement.

What it does

LexiQuest is a multiplayer word puzzle game where up to 5 players can: βœ… Input clues and answers. βœ… Solve puzzles collaboratively or competitively. βœ… Track scores in real-time to see who comes out on top.

How we built it

Frontend: React and TailwindCSS for a clean, responsive UI. Backend: Node.js and Express to handle game logic and scoring. Hosting: Deployed on an AlmaLinux server for stability. Tech Stack: JavaScript, Reddit Dev Platform (Devvit), and GitHub for version control.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing real-time scoring for multiple players. Optimizing performance for dynamic input of clues and answers. Balancing solo development responsibilities across coding, testing, and deployment.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully built and deployed a fully functional word puzzle game as a solo developer. Created an engaging experience that allows Redditors to compete and collaborate. Hosted the game seamlessly on our own server with smooth gameplay.

What I learned

Managing real-time interactions and scoring in a multiplayer setup. Optimizing both frontend and backend workflows for smooth performance. The importance of community feedback to improve features.

What's next for LexiQuest

Add leaderboards for subreddits to increase competition. Introduce daily challenges with rewards for players. Allow users to create and share custom puzzle packs. Expand the game to include AI-generated clues and smarter hints.
