Inspiration

Traditional digital learning platforms are often overwhelming for students with visual dyslexia or ADHD due to dense text blocks, poor contrast, and complex navigation. We built LexiEase to dismantle these visual barriers and make reading and learning effortless for every student.

What it does

LexiEase is a web-based inclusive learning experience featuring:

  • Smart Focus Line: Reducts background clutter and highlights only a single active text line to eliminate visual crowding.
  • Dyslexia-Friendly UI: Built with specialized OpenDyslexic typography, high-contrast color palettes, and adjustable letter-spacing.
  • Voice-Guided Companion: Integrated text-to-speech engine allowing hands-free reading and active recall practice.

How we built it

We mapped user flows focused on accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1), designed interactive high-fidelity wireframes, and prototyped functional UI components using Python and HTML/CSS web structures.

Challenges we ran into

Balancing feature-rich interactions with a clean, minimal interface that doesn't trigger visual overload for neurodivergent users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating an intuitive, highly accessible layout that transforms dense learning materials into structured, stress-free visual sessions.

What we learned

We gained deep insights into inclusive UX design principles, accessibility standards, and how voice assistance can dramatically bridge learning gaps.

What's next for LexiEase

  • Expanding customized font controls and dynamic color filters.
  • Introducing voice-activated navigation for fully hands-free study mode.
