Inspiration
Part of our inspiration came from the NYT Wordle game as well as a recent online Tetris game. We wanted to incorporate the idea of identifying a word out of hundreds of words as well as allow the user to have several tools at their disposal in an endless game style.
What it does
Lexicog is a fast-paced game that encourages the player to think outside the box in removing as many words as possible while trying to keep the unknown keyword in their search list.
How we built it
We built the game using React as our base and languages such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
Challenges we ran into
We had some initial challenges with adjusting to the React UI and learning these languages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are most proud of being able to incorporate each individual component of the project as a whole, especially since we each were pushing and pulling our own progress into the Github project.
What we learned
We gained a deeper appreciation for game development and the overall process of software engineering, especially with regards to trial and error.
What's next for Lexicog
We want to add a saved filter feature that allows the user to store a useful filter and apply it later during their run of the game.
