Inspiration

As engineering students, we often discover opportunities through WhatsApp groups, LinkedIn, college portals, Gmail, and different websites. During busy weeks, multiple registrations open at the same time. We save the links thinking we'll apply later, but with assignments, exams, and other commitments, it's easy to forget. Sometimes, we even realize we missed an opportunity only after the deadline has passed. We faced this problem ourselves and felt there should be a simpler way to stay organized. So I built LevelUpathon—a centralized dashboard where students can discover opportunities from different sources, view them in one place, and keep track of important deadlines without constantly switching between platforms.

What it does

LevelUpathon is a centralized opportunity tracker designed for engineering students. Instead of searching across multiple platforms, it brings opportunities from different sources into a single dashboard.

With LevelUpathon, students can: View hackathons, internships, jobs, scholarships, fellowships, and competitions in one place. Filter opportunities by category and source (LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Gmail, Devpost, etc.). Track upcoming deadlines with priority indicators and countdown timers. Open registration links directly from the dashboard. Bookmark and track opportunities they are interested in. Stay organized without switching between multiple websites and tabs.

The goal is simple: help students discover opportunities faster and reduce the chances of missing important deadlines.

How we built it

I built LevelUpathon as a modern web application to help engineering students organize opportunities in one place. I used GenSpark to speed up prototyping and development, then customized and refined the application to match my idea and requirements.

I designed the user interface, organized opportunities into different categories, implemented filtering and deadline tracking, and created a dashboard that makes it easier to discover and manage opportunities from multiple sources.

Throughout the development process, I focused on keeping the interface clean, intuitive, and easy to navigate so students can spend less time searching across different platforms and more time applying for opportunities.

Challenges we ran into

Developing the project independently meant balancing design, functionality, and time. One challenge was organizing opportunities from different categories in a way that was simple and easy to navigate. I also spent time refining the dashboard layout to ensure users could quickly find important information without feeling overwhelmed. Learning new tools and integrating them into the project while working within the hackathon timeline was another valuable challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud that I turned a problem I personally face into a solution I can actually use. As an engineering student, I often struggle to keep track of registrations, deadlines, and different opportunities. Now, instead of searching through multiple platforms, I can use LevelUpathon to organize and track everything in one place. Knowing that this website is useful not just for others but also for me makes this project even more meaningful. Building the entire project on my own and seeing it come to life is something I'm genuinely proud of.

What we learned

This project helped me improve my web development skills, UI/UX design thinking, and project planning. I learned how to quickly prototype ideas using GenSpark, customize and refine generated code, and build a solution around a real-world problem. Most importantly, I learned that solving everyday challenges can lead to meaningful and practical products. Most importantly, I realized that technology can make a meaningful impact, even by solving everyday problems. Through this project, I understood how digital solutions can support SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by making educational, career, and skill-development opportunities more accessible to students.
