Inspiration

I created LevelUp because I have always wanted an app that helps me stay focused, motivated, and connected to my goals every day. I noticed so many apps felt either too complicated or boring, and none really captured the feeling of making self-growth cozy and personal. I wanted to romanticize productivity — to make it feel inspiring and rewarding, not just a checklist.

What I Built

LevelUp is a goal tracker, reflection journal, skill builder, and friendly competition platform all in one. Users can set their own goals, track progress, reflect on their day with poetry or journaling, level up personal skills, and even challenge friends — all wrapped in a warm, clean, and mobile-friendly design.

I included an AI-style guide that gives personalized advice, helping users figure out what to do next to reach their goals. It’s built to be a personal growth companion, not just a tool.

How I Built It

I used Bolt.new for rapid development, leveraging its ease of use to create multiple pages and connect features like localStorage to save user data persistently on their device. I focused heavily on UX/UI — making sure the app feels cozy, bold, and welcoming with soft colors and clear layouts.

To add advanced features like subscriptions and in-app purchases, I integrated RevenueCat’s system, which I plan to use for premium content in the future. This shows the app is scalable and ready to grow beyond the competition.

Challenges Faced

Time was my biggest challenge — with less than a month, I had to balance designing, coding, and polishing features quickly. Implementing a friendly competition system was tricky since syncing data across devices requires backend support I couldn’t build fully in time. Instead, I designed a clever workaround with manual friend additions and progress tracking.

Learning how to integrate payment systems and plan for real monetization was new to me, but essential for making an app that’s not only useful but sustainable.

Why This Project Matters

LevelUp isn’t just another productivity app — it’s a personal growth system designed for myself and others like me who want to take control of their future, stay inspired, and build habits that last. The app reflects my own journey and vision, and I believe it can help many others do the same.
