Inspiration

The idea for this project stemmed from a deep desire to create a platform where individuals could build and follow their courses systematically, without distractions. I wanted to allow users to learn at their own pace while maintaining a structured and focused approach. One of my biggest inspirations was the manhwa Solo Leveling. The concept of the protagonist leveling up through a system resonated deeply with me. What if we could apply the same principle to real-life learning? What if we had a system that guided us step by step, helping us improve just like the main character This vision became the foundation of Level Up.

What it does

Level Up is an interactive learning platform that empowers users to create and follow courses with ease. Here’s how it works: -Users can sign in using their email or Google account. -Once signed in, they land on the home page, where they can explore various features. -Users can navigate to the Courses tab to create a new course. -Within a few seconds, the system generates a structured course tailored to their needs. -The created courses appear in the Learning tab. -By clicking on a course card, users can start learning module by module, ensuring a structured approach to gaining knowledge.

How we built it

Building Level Up was a journey that required a blend of different technologies and problem-solving skills. Here’s a breakdown of the tech stack and process: -Frontend: I used React.js, a powerful JavaScript framework, to design an intuitive and interactive user interface. -Backend: The backend was built using Firebase, which handled: -Authentication (sign-in via email or Google account) -Hosting -Data storage in Firestore (a NoSQL database) -AI Integration: The real magic happened when I integrated Gemini API 1.5 Flash to generate course content dynamically. -I created a predefined prompt structure that ensured AI-generated responses were formatted in a clear and readable manner. -The AI-generated content was then fetched and stored in Firestore, making it accessible to users in real time.

Challenges I ran into

-Connecting Gemini API and Firestore: Since it was my first time integrating an AI model and storing responses in Firestore, it took time and research to get it right. -Optimizing AI Prompts: Initially, the AI responses were not structured properly. I had to refine my prompts multiple times to ensure that the generated course content was well-organized and easy to read. -Understanding React Concepts: As a beginner in React, I encountered difficulties in state management, API requests, and component rendering. However, each obstacle became an opportunity to learn and improve.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Looking back, I feel incredibly proud of what I have achieved: -Successfully integrating AI-powered course generation as a beginner. -Overcoming technical challenges related to authentication, data storage, and API interactions. -Learning React while working on this project and discovering various best practices. -Seeing the project come to life and function as intended! -Enjoying the process of building and problem-solving, which made the entire journey even more rewarding.

What I learned

This project was a huge learning experience, and I gained valuable knowledge in: -React.js: Building interactive components, managing state, and handling API requests. -Firebase: Authentication, Firestore database integration, and hosting. -AI Integration: Fetching AI-generated JSON data and converting it into user-friendly course structures. -Problem-Solving: Debugging errors, refining AI prompts, and structuring data properly. -Full-Stack Development: Connecting frontend and backend seamlessly.

What's next for Level Up

The journey doesn’t stop here! Moving forward, I plan to: -Improve the UI/UX for a more engaging and smooth user experience. -Enhance the learning section with more interactivity and gamification. -Expand AI capabilities to generate even better structured and personalized course content. -Allow collaboration, so users can co-create courses and share knowledge.

Final Thoughts

Building Level Up was an exciting and transformative experience. It started as an idea inspired by a manhwa but evolved into a real, working platform that can help people learn systematically. This project not only challenged me technically but also reinforced my belief that learning should be structured yet flexible, engaging yet distraction-free. I look forward to improving and expanding it further, making it a go-to platform for structured learning. 🚀
