Inspiration
Kids are not usually taught budgeting. So once they enter into adulthood they struggle with shopping under the budget. This is our own experience as young adults.
What it does
This program includes 2 parts:
- It takes the city and outputs the minimum cost of living, minimum wage, and calculates minimum working hour
- A game that given user's age allocates an allowance where user can budget and spend the money shopping proving a list.
How we built it
We used Replit as our main collaborative codespace. We used Python, implementing functions, loops, and dictionary.
Challenges we ran into
We are both beginner level programmer, and this is our first hackathon so we used day one to explore the workshops. This is our first time exploring Github and Replit so we ran into a couple of technical issues. Time is also a challenge since we only have half day to start our project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of finishing program in our first hackathon.
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate on open ended project within such a short time frame. We also learned to navigate through Github and Replit.
What's next for Level UP Gen Z
We want to implement more complex features and visuals to make it more appealing to younger audience. We also want to expand the options and database.
