Inspiration

I was inspired by the idea of reconnecting with my younger self—those small, hopeful moments we often forget. Letters To Myself explores memory, courage, and the gentle magic of self-discovery.

What it does

This short anime tells the story of a man who rediscovers letters he wrote to his childhood self. Through the tactile beauty of paper, ink, and drifting paper boats, he reconnects with hope, courage, and memories long buried.

How I built it

I used Kling AI to create images and animations, ChatGPT to craft the storyline and prompts, and Hailuo Minimax for the audio, blending visuals and sound to evoke an emotional, immersive experience.

Challenges I ran into

Maintaining consistency across animated sequences and matching the emotional tone of visuals with audio were tricky. Generating expressive yet subtle childhood memories in animation required several iterations.

Accomplishments I’m proud of

I successfully brought a deeply emotional story to life in a visually poetic way. The anime conveys subtle nostalgia and hope, while keeping animation, sound, and story fully integrated.

What I learned

I learned the importance of emotional continuity in AI-generated animation and how to blend multiple AI tools to create a coherent and moving short film.

What's next for Letters To Myself | Anime

Next, I plan to refine the animation sequences, explore more interactive storytelling elements, and expand the narrative to explore other memories and letters, deepening the emotional resonance.
