Challenges we ran into

One big problem we had was to get the databases to work properly, to store persistent information about users. It took us a while to first thing initialise and link the tables and the webpages using them, as we had to use a combination of JS calls and python back-end code. Then the 2nd problem we ran into was normalising the tables to avoid breaking referential integrity. This took a bit of brainstorming and time to figure out, but we got there in the end.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We spent a meticulous amount of time to design and draw a range of sprites for our little mascot, as he appears throughout the web-app, expressing a range of emotions relating to the user's actions.

We are proud of the variety of features that we have created. Even if some of them are still in a very-prototype stage, we showed creativity and ingenuity to devise different strategies to increase financial literacy.

What we learned

This was a challenge for all of us. It was the first time any of us had to deal with front and back-end programming on the same project, and having to collaborate through git also provided a new level of challenge (as we had a few close calls with losing progress due to risky merge calls). We also learned much about the FLASK package and how it can streamline the back-end of web development.

What's next for Lett-us

For now this is just a proof of concept, but who knows; one day you might see a familiar green face pop up in an ad or in an application store in the future, so be sure to pay close attention to your financial softwares :)
