The world's leading AI labs now publish country-by-country data on who is actually using artificial intelligence. I went looking for my own country and found nothing — Lesotho isn't ranked low, it simply falls below the observation threshold and is left out of the figures entirely.
It isn't that Basotho don't want AI. It's that the applications everyone talks about will not install on the phones most people here carry, and the data they consume costs more than most households will spend. The tools were built for hardware we don't hold.
So I built something that fits the phone in the pocket, not the one in the advert.
Letsie AI is a free, three-in-one national knowledge interface that runs in any browser on any phone — no download, no app store, almost no data.
CHAT — a real AI assistant powered by Gemini, answering in Sesotho, English, or the mix of both that people here actually speak. All computation happens server-side; the phone only renders text.
LEARN — micro-courses delivered twelve small lessons at a time, written so a child can follow them. Each completed lesson uncovers one tile of a hidden picture and awards stars. The first course teaches what AI is and how to use it safely.
SEARCH — a consent-based national directory of services around you: police, ambulances, emergency numbers, businesses and trades, with a featured strip of the things people ask for most.
Everything is free for every person. No tier, no trial.
