Inspiration

My inspiration to create this website is from my health class. Last school year, I learned about suicide and the group of people who are at high risk of committing suicide. The study shows teenagers are the high risk of suicide. I was shocked by the number of people who died by suicide. According to the CDC, "More than 47.500 people died by suicide in 2019". So, I asked my teacher what actions we can take to prevent suicide are. She said, by learning about this issue and spread the knowledge with others. That's why I create this website to spread the knowledge that I learned from my health class, especially for children and teenagers.

What it does

This is an educational website. The main purpose of this website is to prevent suicide. The research shows few ways we can prevent suicides are by learning about these issues and sharing the knowledge like the warning sign of suicide and fact of sucide, and most importantly, where to go. On this website, I talk about suicide issues and resources that are helpful to prevent suicide.

How we built it

I create this website by using the computer science language HTML, CSS, and Javascript. In addition, I include the information or lessons which I learned from my health class.

Challenges we ran into

This is my first time creating a full website, so it was a little difficult. The most challenging part was fixing my javascript error, but my mentor helped me with that, and the workshop was really helpful.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am most proud that now I can share the knowledge that I learned with others.

What we learned

I learned a lot of things from these hackathon workshops. By doing this project, I also gain research skills.

What's next for Let's Prevent Suicide!

My next plan for "Let's Prevent Suicide" is to create a help box where users can chat about this issue with others. I also plan to create another page, "Our Story," where the public people can write about their story those who suffer from mental illness and tried to commit suicide and how they come out of these thoughts. Lastly, I plan to make this website assessable to all people worldwide, and people can translate the website's language.
