LetMeKnow, Amazon Alexa

Inspiration

After volunteering at HackTheValley at the hardware booth, I was quite intrigued with the capability of the Amazon Alexa platform. Inspired from the original project LetMeKnow, this product was made to offer a similar functionality with the added benefit of having queries having voice recognition, and having Alexa read out the summary of the article to you.

What it does

Informs you about current news related to your search queries.

How I built it

Built over two days, had to port over some code from LetMeKnow (this was the easy part), then had to integrate this code with an existing wrapper for AWS lambda available on Github.

Challenges I ran into

Getting queries to be recognized by Alexa.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Pretty neat feature.

What I learned

Amazon's AWS Lambda service, and their server side based hosting.
