Every household struggles with the daily question: "What should we cook today?" This often leads to impulsive fast-food ordering, buying duplicate ingredients, or letting fresh food rot in the fridge simply because people don't know how to utilize what they already have. We reframe how we solve this kitchen dilemma by introducing a seamless 3-step digital workflow that turns existing resources into instant meal solutions.
Let Us Cook! is a web prototype designed to minimize food waste and promote healthier eating. The user journey is highly streamlined:
- Snap & Upload: Users upload a photo of their fridge or pantry ingredients.
- Review & Refine: The system extracts the ingredients, allowing users to easily confirm, delete, or add items to ensure accuracy.
- Smart Recommendation: The app instantly matches the available ingredients with curated healthy recipes, sorted dynamically by their ingredient match percentage.
To enhance utility, we also integrated a Recipe History feature, allowing users to easily revisit the details of their favorite previously viewed meals. Built using a React frontend for an interactive user interface, Tailwind CSS for modern styling, and a Flask backend to manage our localized data structures, we successfully simulated an end-to-end cooking companion experience. While the current prototype runs on prepared dummy data to showcase the core user flow, the architecture is fully optimized for future computer vision and LLM integrations.
