Inspiration
A lot of students are cooking by themselves right now for the first time in college and might be confused on what to make with what they have. This application helps them generate the best meals to make and makes it into a fun competition with friends so everyone can improve their cooking skills.
What it does
Our website receives the user's input on the ingredients and dietary restrictions to generate a detailed recipe using an API. Then, two players compete to make the best dish using the recipe and submit images of their dishes. The images go through an AI image recognition software that determines which dish looks more appetizing and an AI Gordon Ramsay gives them feedback.
How we built it
We used spoontacular's API to parse through different recipes to determine the right fit for our users. We also used Astica's vision model to detect what the food in the submitted images are and how much it looks like the right dish. It also sends us a paragraph of it describing the food. We then use a chatgpt API to rephrase the paragraph into something Gordon Ramsey would say, with jokes and attitude.
Challenges we ran into
We were struggling to make the front end react communicate and receive data from the back end python APIs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our determination and perseverance.
What we learned
We learned a lot about web development and how APIs work.
What's next for Let Them Cook
Voice Ai for Gordan Ramsey with moving sprites. We also want better looking UI.
