Inspiration

During Covid19 lock-downs, a lot of services like medical and healthcare services, shopping for essentials, monitoring quarantined patients and the community in general, setting up isolation centers, banking services, educating the population etc. need equipped staff and volunteers to be effectively managed. On the other hand, a large number of people in the general population that has been mandated to be self-isolated find it difficult to stay at home and face loneliness. These problems struck me with an idea. The people who dislike sitting at home all day could help out the organizations in their neighborhood for a few hours during the day, by following proper preventive measures and this would help reduce the load on the staff working in those organizations.

What it does

It's a simple marketplace application where organizations that require volunteering effort in any form can post about it as a service, with details about any prerequisite knowledge or equipment required from a volunteer, and the location. Volunteers can check for volunteering efforts in their neighborhood and sign up for them if they are qualified.

How we built it

Using an open source marketplace app, https://github.com/Cocolabs-SAS/cocorico.
