Inspiration
UGA Hacks 8 theme was travel. We were inspired by Byte to create a travel website where Byte can give a quick tour of the country that you want to go to through a web browser.
What it does
The traveler(user) will ask Byte(our website) which country they want to travel to. Byte with his pal Chat GPT and Travel-advisory API will guide you through an adventure.
How we built it
For frontend framework we used React and its libraries to make cool responsive designs for our website. We used Flask as our server to get our API calls from Chat GPT and Travel-advisory API. We also utilized Python for our back-end.
Challenges we ran into
It was our first time using Python, Flask, and Chat GPT. It was also our first time utilizing the Material UI Library in React. We used completely new technology for this project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We pushed our limits by leaving our comfort zone and utilized new technology that we are not familiar with. We are proud to have a working, completed, functioning project.
What we learned
We learned how to use Python to call external APIs and connect it to a React front-end utilizing servers with Flask.
What's next for Let's go on an adventure!
Let's go on an adventure website can go further by potentially having Byte be more interactive with its users by adding a chatBot.
