Inspiration
Let's Get Support is the other half of Let's Get Sober.
Aaryn and I have lived in the Fraser Valley our whole lives. We have known each other for most of thirty years. We have watched Abbotsford — and Chilliwack, Surrey, Langley, Mission, the rest of the valley — get hit by addiction. Not as a headline. As people we know. The person in it is only part of the story. The partner, the parent, the sibling, the friend is the other part. They still have to get through the day.
When we sat down with the City and the Abbotsford ACCESS table, that is what they named. Not “another sobriety tracker.” A tool for the people holding the household together. Recovery Day made the same point in person. There was not a simple, private app for that job. Websites are a wall of PDFs when you are already tired.
So we built Support the same way we built Sober: on the phone, no account required for the core tools, nothing from the journal leaving the device.
What it is
A daily companion for the person who is showing up.
- 🌤️ Morning check-in: how you are holding up
- 📏 One personal line you can mark if you held it
- 🌬️ A two-minute wind-down at night
- 📓 Journal, burnout and conversation tools, grief and relapse-response tools
- 📍 Find Help: city-filtered public resources. Abbotsford ACCESS, where we have written permission to use their information and mark. Other Fraser Valley cities from public lists. Canada-wide safety lines when you are not in a mapped city
- 🔔 Optional morning and night reminders on the device
- ⭐ Let's Get Support Plus: Weekly Insights. A private Monday–Sunday look at check-ins and lines. Math happens on the phone. Journal text is not read
RevenueCat runs the store purchase. The daily tools stay free. We are not locking a check-in behind a paywall.
🌍 Languages: English, French, Spanish, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese. Michif is listed as coming soon. We are a 51% Métis-owned company. We will not ship a fake translation to look finished.
📱 Live on Google Play:

Sober and NETWORTH are live too. Same company. Same design language. Different job.
How we built it
Replit and Expo. Same workshop as Sober. TypeScript, AsyncStorage, Expo Notifications, RevenueCat.
We did not start this in August for a hackathon. Sober was the first listing. Support is the companion we told ACCESS about while Sober was still a build. We went to City Hall. Mayor Ross Siemens sent us to Mike Sikora. We kept showing up at the Substance Use Working Group. We got approval to use ACCESS information in the apps. Recovery Day Abbotsford — table, banner, conversations, the listing in people's hands.
Pilots and next rooms: Ruth and Naomi's, Joshua House, the OAT clinic, a newsletter path to the ACCESS contact list. Other municipalities in the valley have confirmed we can use public resource lists. That is already in Support. Sober gets the same Find Help pattern.
We also had to become a real company to ship: federal corporation, D-U-N-S, organization Play account, privacy pages on our own site, store listings that do not overclaim. That took longer than the first prototype. It is why the apps are still on-device. We would rather be late than sloppy with someone else's notes.
What we learned
Family apps die when they preach or when they pretend to be a clinic. A good day in Support is three taps and one honest line.
“Near you” matters. A Surrey user should not scroll Abbotsford's entire list. We learned to filter by place, keep ACCESS attribution on Abbotsford rows only, and never print “call 211” as if the whole planet uses 211.
Plus has to mean something you can see without us reading the journal. Weekly Insights is that. If we cannot explain it in one sentence, it does not go on the paywall.
Building in public is how we got testers, a city conversation, and a third Play listing. Discord, X, YouTube walkthroughs, Recovery Day — that is the record, not a private repo.
Challenges
Scope. Everyone wants AI, a live family dashboard, and every country on earth. We shipped the daily loop and local help. Heart-rate “craving detection” and a server-side family feed stay on the roadmap until they are real and still private.
Store reality. Play wanted an organization account for this category of app. We waited on D-U-N-S, moved the listing, fixed a privacy-policy miss and a reviewer path for paid features on Sober, then brought Support through the same bar. Three live listings. Not three demos.
Two people. Every meeting, every resource row, every store screenshot. Aaryn is on this team. If a prize includes travel, he attends. I cannot.
