Inspiration

Aaryn and I have known each other for over 30 years. We grew up in the Fraser Valley BC and we still live here. We have watched addiction hit hard. Friends. Family. People we have known our whole lives.

We both have lived experience with it. That is why this app exists.

Most recovery apps felt like they were built for a clinic, or they wanted your data on a server. We wanted something you could open at night, check in, and keep private. No feed. No account required for the core tools.

3Dadz is our company. We are 51% Métis-owned, based in Abbotsford. We build the apps ourselves.

We have been building on Replit for over a year. Let's Get Sober is us pointing that work at a problem we actually live around.

What it does

Let's Get Sober is a private Android app for people trying to stay clean.

You can:

  • make a daily pledge and get reminders
  • track mood and streaks
  • unlock milestones
  • write in a journal that stays on your phone
  • find local help through Abbotsford ACCESS
  • call crisis lines
  • share a simple progress card if you want
  • unlock extra tools with RevenueCat if you choose

The main tools are free. Your journal and check-ins stay on the device. This is not treatment. It is something to use between the hard hours.

We also built Let's Get Support for families, and NETWORTH the game. This page is Let's Get Sober.

How we built it

We did not come from a software company. We had to learn the app, and we had to learn the business at the same time.

The product was built with Replit Agent and Expo / React Native. Hundreds of hours. TypeScript. Data on the phone with AsyncStorage. RevenueCat for subscriptions. Local notifications. Share cards. No server for personal recovery data.

The other half was everything around the app. We incorporated as 17895186 Canada Inc. We waited on a D-U-N-S number so we could get a real Play Console organization account. We wrote privacy pages and stood up letsgetsoberapp.ca. We sent hundreds of emails to recovery programs, city staff, and funders. We sat in rooms at Abbotsford City Hall with ACCESS. We waited on my Métis citizenship so the company could be listed the right way.

We taught ourselves subscriptions, store listings, ads, grant forms, and how to talk to a city without overpromising. That took as long as the code.

Challenges

Play Store would not let us launch on a personal account. Health apps have extra rules. We got stuck, fixed a privacy policy, set up a reviewer path for purchases, and still had to wait on Expo builds when the free plan ran out.

Google Ads limited us because this is a health topic. Bank meetings went nowhere. We are building this while on a tight budget. We still got the app live on August 15, 2026.

We also said no to a public feed inside the app. Privacy first.

What we learned

Shipping the APK is not the same as running a company. The app was the easy part compared to accounts, legal pages, store review, and showing up to meetings.

People will download it. Paying is harder. We have 175+ downloads and about 125 people who opened it in RevenueCat. Paid subs are still at zero. That is the truth. So we keep the core free and keep working on the family app.

Local partners. ACCESS approved our resources and logos. A few recovery programs want to pilot in October.

After launch

What's next

iOS. Let's Get Support on the Play Store. October pilots. A Healthy Coping app

We entered Shipaton because the app is live, we built it ourselves, and we did the unglamorous work to make it a real company.

The companion for families is live too — Let’s Get Support.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.letsgetsupport.app

We built this in the open: ACCESS, Recovery Day, City Hall, X, YouTube. Data for the daily tools still lives on the device. We are not a clinic. If someone is in immediate danger, call local emergency services.
