Inspiration
As college students, we don't have the space or money to buy all the things we need, especially if we only need a few times. So we decided to build Lendr, a tool for UMD students to loan items from other students at a small cost.
What it does
The app essentially allows lenders to post tools/items they'd like to lend and people who need those items can request to borrow them at a price.
How we built it
We used React native for the frontend (both mobile and web friendly) and FastApi backend with a Postgresql database.
Challenges we ran into
The Oath system took us a long time to figure out as it was broken but after a lot of grinding we fixed the issue (clearing the cache)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building out the database to have it connect between computers.
What we learned
Database schemas and react native
What's next for Lendr
Introduce a recommendation algorithm to better find the things that you need based on your history of loaning
