Inspiration

Agriculture, poultry farming, cattle-keeping and related industries are very tools and resources dependent. They require a lot of machinery, a lot of manpower and a lot of natural resources as well. The cost of manpower and natural resources is manageable as it is pretty much flexible. The problem comes in for tools and machinery. Suppose there's a farmer who needs special tools to renovate his horse's back cover. Buying those tools for one time use would be a waste of money. Wouldn't it be cool if that farmer could lend those tools from someone else in the community, and then return it back after use, leading to a huge saving. That is what our inspiration was behind Lend Me Tools.

What it does

Lend Me Tools is an online platform, that connects people on the countryside that are into similar industries like cattle-keeping, farming, etc. The platform lets users lend tools or put their tools for lending, so that the community can save on money. It also in turn leads to better coordination and association amongst themselves. The lending of tools is free and happens around the place based on location, the contact info of both the parties are shared with each other so that they can contact each other and coordinate accordingly.

How we built it

We built the whole platform using Wix and its developer APIs provided by Velo. We needed to make beautiful components for text, images, buttons, forms, and carousels, for which we used Wix built-in components. Then, we had to take the data from the form to store it somewhere. We used Velo's database API for the same and stored the data with us. The data was then shown on the "get tools" pages, which depicts the items that are available to be lent. That's how we utilised the Wix and Velo features to create our fully functional website, which is live at https://aakzshh.wixsite.com/lendmetools/.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a couple of challenges such as:-

Connecting the Database with the form correctly.
Making the changes in the theme according to our needs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to come up with such a nice idea on the theme, and made it from scratch, and utilised Wix and Velo's features to the greatest extent.

What we learned

We learnt a lot about countryside industries, how there are not many resources for them, and how we can make useful things for the same. From development point of view, we learnt many new things in wix such as customizing themes, connecting and showing database content, manipulating orders page to receive emails on every transaction.
