Inspiration

I was building a simple booking app for my friends. We needed to create a system to book a spike ball game set we shared. It is a similar volleyball-type game. So I decided to create a simple booking app for them with react-native and expo. This led me to the idea to create an app for booking, an app for multiple different types of products found in the house that everyone can reuse. Which gave me the idea of this.

What it does

This app is a booking app for multiple different types of products around the house. If you have a. product that is not in use but still works perfectly then you can place a listing on this site. Then anyone near you who searches for a similar product will get your listing and your price. If they feel like everything works out a customer can book the person's listing. Then they will get notifications and be led to a chat page where they can discuss where to meet, times, how to pay, etc.

How I built it

I built it using Figma design to create a mock-up. I do not have a fully functional app yet but that will be the next step, and I would partially use the money for it.

Challenges I ran into

I ran into a problem of how do people get certified bookings, who picks it up, and other details. I fixed this in two ways. The first was adding a description to provide special instructions if needed. another was adding the chat feature. This positioned the app as more of a connector between people and not a full app with complete booking information, pick-up places, and other details. It leaves it up to the customer. Maybe in the future however we can add more features to take care of bookings ourselves.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I believe the color scheme and UI of this app look like a professional app, with fine-tuning, this app could need very few UI changes in the future. I believe the way it looks is great.

What I learned

I learned how to use Figma for the first time. I have never used Figma before for a major app. This app taught me how easy it is to use Figma and the capabilities are endless. I will be using Figma for any other designs I have as well.

What's next for LendIt

Oblivously the first step would be to code this. I do not know how to code this by myself. I will learn some JavaScript and some more advanced react-native ideas and find teammates to code this app. After that, I believe taking more of the booking on the app and less onto the customer after the app is published would be a great way to provide a more seamless experience.
