Inspiration
This hackathon project was created as an inspiration from my past experiences volunteering in Highschool. In the past and now, it had been difficult to find volunteering services that fit into my schedule and what I am interested in
What it does
allows users to search through a Database of organizations and volunteer listings and utilize AI to be paired up with volunteer opportunities.
How we built it
Started off, building the ai prompting and script into terminal, assigning parameters to take into consideration when prompting a search. Afterwards, utilized AI to build a simple front end.
Challenges we ran into
This was my first hackathon and my first time using Python, Flask, and an AI API in one project (I come from Java), so most of the challenges were about wiring parts together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to code my own AI matchmaking algorithm as coming from someone with no experience with APIs and Flask.
What we learned
I was able to learn Python, AI API, SQLite, and Flask
What's next for Lend A Hand
To one day replace, the demo data in my code with a real database containing real volunteer shifts.
