Inspiration
When researching, it's important to keep track of your sources and their types. Primary, secondary, and tertiary sources all have different uses and methods for reading them. In addition, researchers often have to sort through a wide variety of material like: books, databases, journals, websites, and articles. That's why I built a tool designed to keep it all in one place.
What it does
Lemonade Notebook can scan the references of a Wikipedia page and sort them by source type (e.g. Primary, Secondary, Tertiary), media type, as well as check for any paywalls. This helps save time so you already have neatly sorted sources when you've just begun! In addition, you can take notes on any source!
How I built it
The project was made with React, a JavaScript framework, using Tailwind CSS for the styling. The server that calls GPT 5 is made with python using the FastAPI module. I hosted everything with Vercel.
Challenges we ran into
I had some trouble getting the python server hosted on Vercel, as well as with styling the site. Additionally, the server ran pretty slowly at first, but I fixed that after some debugging.
