Inspiration

Traveling abroad can be tricky. Many travelers unknowingly break local laws, especially unusual or lesser-known ones, which can lead to fines, embarrassment, or legal trouble. Traveling to a new country is exciting but even seasoned travelers can face the same risks. LegiTrail was born from the need to make every journey safer and smarter. Our goal is simple: give travelers instant, actionable guidance on both common and surprising legal rules, so they can explore confidently without worrying about fines, embarrassment, or legal trouble

What it does

LegiTrail lets users explore the laws of any country around the world. It highlights unusual or lesser-known regulations in addition to popular ones, helping travelers understand what’s allowed and what’s not before visiting a country. The app provides an easy-to-use interface and quick results.

How we built it

  • Built using TypeScript (.tsx) for front-end components.
  • HTML for structure and layout.
  • Integrated Google Search and Gemini API to fetch law-related information in real time.
  • Designed for clarity and simplicity, so users can quickly understand the laws.

Challenges we ran into

  • Fetching accurate and up-to-date law information from multiple sources.
  • Displaying both common and unusual laws without overwhelming users.
  • Integrating APIs while keeping response time fast and reliable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Created an app that helps travelers avoid confusion or legal issues abroad.
  • Successfully integrated multiple APIs to provide a real-time law-checking experience.
  • Built a user-friendly interface that makes legal information accessible to anyone.

What's next

In the future, LegiTrail will evolve into a real-time AI legal travel companion. . Offline country guides will allow travelers to access legal information without internet access, making the app useful in airports and remote areas. We also aim to introduce a voice-powered AI assistant, enabling users to ask questions naturally and receive instant legal guidance
