🔍Inspiration
Our team was driven by the vision to simplify and streamline the court case management process, which is often complex and time-consuming. They were determined to create a digital platform that would facilitate the flow of information and enable efficient data management for all stakeholders involved in court cases.
❓What it does
LegalLens includes robust statistics generation for judges and lawyers. The team implemented sophisticated data analytics capabilities that provide valuable insights, such as case trends, success rates, and average case durations. These statistics enable judges and lawyers to make data-driven decisions and optimize their performance in the court system.
🔧How we built it
Our team utilized our expertise in the MERN stack and front-end technologies to develop a cutting-edge solution. We started by building a robust back-end using MongoDB for data storage, Express.js for handling server-side logic, and Node.js for server-side runtime. This back-end architecture ensured secure and efficient data storage and retrieval. Up against, we turned our attention to the front-end development, creating a sleek and intuitive user interface using HTML, CSS, JS, Bootstrap and jQuery. We incorporated features such as a user-friendly form for government officials to enter case details, and a secure login system for lawyers and judges to access the data.
🧐Challenges we ran into
We initially were going to build the same idea in Django. Unfortunately, we faced certain difficulties with database and hence had to switch our backend technology to Nodejs. We conducted thorough testing and quality assurance to ensure that the application was secure, reliable, and user-friendly.
😌Accomplishments that we're proud of
We tried our best to address all known issues and implemented necessary improvements to deliver a polished and functional product.
📝What we learned
As a beginner, we learned building a project from scratch in a limited time frame and enhanced our web development capabilities in MERN stack.
⏭️What's next for LegalLens
While building the project we realized the need for a search functionality for all users, statistics for lawyers, judges and government employees and add option of displaying proof or not.
