Legalance is an AI assistant that helps people understand immigration rules in a simple and friendly way. I was inspired to build it because I am an international student & people like us struggle with legal language, especially those who don’t speak English well. This project uses Google’s Gemini to search for real-time answers and Claude to explain those answers in easy words. I also added support for different languages like Hindi and Spanish, along with voice input and text-to-speech so users can speak and listen. I learned how to work with AI APIs, handle translations, build web interfaces using Streamlit and Gradio, and deploy everything online. Some challenges I faced were setting up API sessions, fixing formatting issues with Claude, and connecting voice features, but in the end, I built something that feels human, helpful, and accessible to everyone.
