With the advent of blockchain and its revolutionary decentralizing capacity, we realized that it provides a strong benefit in eliminating traditional "trusted" intermediaries. We set out to leverage this technology to better the world around us.

Currently, people must rely on trusted, centralized third parties to act as notaries. This is costly and inefficient. Integrity and security of records is poor and vulnerable to hackers.

Now, you can notarize your legal and contractual agreements through LegalSwag using the bitcoin blockchain as a notary. LegalSwag will enable individuals to notarize their agreements themselves without the need of a third party. Leveraging blockchain’s cryptographic security and immutability, their agreements may be authenticated at any time against the blockchain’s records. It’ll be lit.

We first built out the frontend to understand how it would integrate into our user's workflow. Here we focused on the classics - HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. After completing a fluid admin dashboard we moved on to building out the backend, using python and APIs from Tierion, a platform to create verifiable records of business processes on the blockchain.

We learned a lot about REST APIs and how to use them. Furthermore, we learned about merkle trees in reclaiming disk space in the bitcoin blockchain, and also about their usability in appending multiple hashes per OP-RETURN to the bitcoin blockchain to increase scalability.

Next, we want to fully automate our system. We want to create a fluent and understandable UI and UX experience, where people have the convenience of securely digitizing their records with the clicks of a few buttons.
