Inspiration
I have always been interested in the law, especially at the federal government level. I thought it would be extremely useful, as I watch online videos or listen to podcasts about true crime, to have a tool that I could use to look up reliable information about the law.
What it does
The application consists of a Flask backend that securely handles the API key and communicates with the Perplexity API, and a frontend HTML interface for users to ask questions.
How we built it
Using the Sonar docs and cookbook as a guide, I used Python Flash for the backend and html for a user friendly front end.
Challenges we ran into
I did not run into an challenges because documentation and cookbook were very easy to follow with ample examples of how to access the Sonar API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the modifications I made to bring the app closer to a production state.
What we learned
I learned how easy it was to use the Sonar API to create very useful agents that can consolidate and present reliable information to a user.
What's next for Legal Eagle
I may demo the tool for some individuals in the legal profession to determine if it could be a viable to tool for legal professionals, particularly paralegals.
