Inspiration

I was inspired by the barriers many women face when seeking legal help, especially in cases of gender discrimination. I wanted to create something that made legal support accessible, fast, and empowering.

What it does

My AI-powered legal assistant answers legal questions, summarizes documents, drafts notices, and predicts case outcomes using simple slash commands like /summary, /find, /draft, and /casepredict. It provides clear, professional responses in just 5-6 lines.

How I built it

I built the web interface using HTML and JavaScript, with a Node.js backend to handle API requests. I integrated Google’s Gemini API for generating smart, professional legal responses. I used intuitive slash commands to guide user interaction.

Challenges I ran into

I faced challenges in structuring prompts effectively for the Gemini API to keep responses concise and accurate. Handling errors gracefully and ensuring a smooth user experience also required careful backend logic.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of building a working AI legal tool that feels both powerful and simple to use. The slash command interface makes complex legal tasks accessible in seconds. It’s also tailored specifically to support women’s rights.

What I learned

I learned how to leverage large language models like Gemini for domain-specific applications, structure prompts effectively, and create user-friendly AI interfaces. I also deepened my understanding of legal tech use cases.

What's next for Legal Assistant for Gender Equality (LAGE)

Next, I want to add multilingual support, expand the database of legal documents, and improve case prediction accuracy. I also plan to deploy it widely and gather real user feedback to refine the experience.
